Neutral Style

MAY 2014

I really love the neutral colour palette of this month`s selection of objects: beiges, greys, light browns and whites that sometimes are sprinkled with touches of brighter colours such as turquoise and vermilion. In addition to that sober range of colours, the pure lines of these objects enhance a pleasant and timeless simplicity and a feeling of serenity and wellbeing. They make me think of silence and peaceful solitude.

Besides their aesthetic pleasure, some of the ideas behind these artworks and designs are quite bold: a wooden rug half soft half hard, half wood half textile, whose unexpected flexibility forms random topography; a painting that is partially veiled by a curtain of pastel brushstrokes; a pedestal dining table with granite spheres to balance cantilever; a book turned into the lid of a wall-mounted box; seamless side tables with corian tops and wooden foot; and some more!
